Council grant supports Hearts United deliver life-saving CPR training

Penrith Town Council has awarded Hearts United CIC a £600.50 grant to support its free community CPR training.

The funding has paid for a female CPR manikin and a youth manikin, enabling Hearts United to offer more realistic and inclusive training for a wider range of emergency situations.

The new equipment will be used at public events across Penrith, where participants will learn how CPR techniques can differ for females, children and young people. By practising these techniques, more residents can develop the confidence and practical skills to respond in an emergency.

Cllr Val Bowen, Penrith Town Council Chair & Penrith Mayor, said:

“I am delighted that Penrith Town Council has been able to support Hearts United through our Community Grants Scheme.

“Hearts United does fantastic work in our community, helping people develop skills that could one day save a life. This new equipment will make its training even more realistic and give participants greater confidence to respond calmly and quickly in an emergency.”

Donna Mills, Director of Hearts United CIC, said:

“We are very grateful to Penrith Town Council for its continued support. The new manikins will make our sessions more realistic and help us show people how CPR techniques can differ depending on the age and anatomy of the person needing help.

“They will be used repeatedly at free sessions across Penrith, helping more people feel prepared and confident to respond in a cardiac emergency.”

The grant has been awarded through Penrith Town Council’s Community Grants Scheme, which supports local organisations and projects that deliver direct benefits for Penrith residents.
